Calafai Brand Standing

Buying advice moved to AI. Your brand measurement did not.

Your customers ask AI about your brand. Calafai Brand Standing scores how AI perceives it, on the measures brand strategy already runs on, against the positioning you built, with the evidence attached to every score.

For the leaders who set a company's strategic brand positioning and run its marketing: the chief marketing officer and the brand team.

AI is now an audience for your brand. It has formed an opinion of you, and nobody has measured it.

Brand strategy has always been set on how the audiences that matter perceive you: customers, buyers, the trade. A new audience has joined them. When a customer asks an AI chatbot which brand to buy, or whether yours is any good, the chatbot answers from its own perception of your brand, built from what it absorbed in training and what it finds when it searches, and it repeats that perception to every customer who asks. Your brand has decades of measurement for how people perceive it, and none for this audience.

In the 2026 AI Search Survey of 602 marketing and PR professionals by Scrunch and Scribewise, 91% of respondents said they had an AI-search strategy. About 70% were not monitoring brand sentiment in AI answers.

AI-visibility tools available today are counting brand mentions: whether you came up, where, how often. A mention count cannot tell you what this audience believes about your brand, or whether that belief is the one you spent years and budget building.

The first sign that AI tells a different story is a screenshot from the CEO you cannot answer with a number.

  • AI describes your brand with the positioning you retired years ago. You have an opinion about it, and no number.
  • The board asks what AI tells customers about the brand. Your tracker deck has a slide for every channel except this one.
  • The repositioning is live everywhere you control. You can prove it landed with people. You cannot prove it landed with the systems advising them.
  • Part of the search budget already flows to AI visibility. Nobody can say what it bought.

Left alone, a wrong description hardens into a reputation to repair.

By the time the gap shows up in sales, it is no longer a description to correct. It is a reputation to repair. AI's version of your brand is written from whatever the open web says and repeated to every customer who asks, and each answer that carries the old positioning reinforces the next one.

A competitor that measures first sets the vocabulary of the category in this channel. And spend on AI visibility without an instrument is a guess with an invoice.

Calafai scores how AI perceives your brand, and shows where that perception has drifted from the positioning you built.

Calafai puts scores of real customer questions in your category to the major AI chatbots and scores the answers on the measures brand strategy already runs on.

  • Salience: do the chatbots bring you up unprompted, and again when they search.
  • Associations and their tone: what they link you with, how warmly, and whether it is what you meant.
  • Differentiation and relevance: do they set you apart from the set they compare you to, and count you as right for the need.
  • Identity: the character they give the brand, facet by facet, and where it contradicts itself.

Each score names the published measure it comes from and cites the answers behind it.

Loyalty cannot be read in this channel, and the scorecard says so rather than guessing.

Every question runs in two modes that are never averaged: what the chatbots already know about your brand from training, and what they find when they search. A gap in what they already know about you is a reputation problem. A gap in what they find when they search is a content problem. They do not share a fix, and the gap between the two reads is a finding in itself: it tells you whether the work ahead is positioning or content, and how long it will take.

The scorecard comes with the evidence behind every score and an error band from two independent measurements, so you know whether a change next quarter is movement or noise. The drift between the positioning you intend and the one the chatbots repeat is laid out measure by measure, with the issues every measure points to. And you leave with a start, stop, and keep list of brand moves: what to start standing for, what to stop claiming, what to keep defending. Where the chatbots learned each belief is recorded too, so the content work that follows knows where to begin.

The yardstick comes from a working session with you: the positioning you intend, the products that matter most, the customers you want to win, the brands you count as your set, and what you are weighing right now, whether a repositioning, a launch, or a new market. That is what the chatbots' answers get measured against.

Calafai gives you the answer nobody else in the room has, with the receipts.

  • Fast, because the method is already built.

Calafai turned the brand-equity frameworks taught in business schools, used in brand consulting, and run inside the strategy departments of major global brands into software, with AI agents doing the measurement at scale. Your report is delivered within two weeks, usually in one.

  • Built for the brand leader, not the SEO desk.

It answers the questions a brand leader actually has: are we the brand the chatbots bring up first, what do they associate us with and in what tone, do they set us apart from the brands they compare us to, and is the character they give us the one we built.

  • Strategy first, then the fixes.

Brand Standing helps you shape what your brand should stand for in this channel. The Brand GEO Report then shows, question by question, where AI still tells a different story, where it got it, and how to change it. Most brands need both, in that order.

  • A number you can defend.

Every score traces to the actual answers behind it, with its error band. Calafai is the only AI brand equity software and report that attaches the evidence to every score and states its error band.Footnote 1

  • What it measures, and what it does not.

What the chatbots say reflects what they were trained on and what they can find on the web, not what consumers themselves think. Keep your human tracker running and read the two side by side.

  • Reviewed by a senior brand strategist.

Every report is read and signed off before it reaches you.

The report is where the work starts, and Calafai can stay for the rest of it.

After the report, Calafai can be retained to work the brand strategy with your team: the fixes, the repositioning, the next launch. The quarterly program keeps the measurement running, so you can see what each move did.
